Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex Added to Elastic Server Factory
CohesiveFT Adds Ubuntu 8.10 to its Automated Elastic Server® Platform
Custom Ubuntu virtual servers can be assembled in Amazon large, extra large, and high-CPU formats

CHICAGO, IL - November 18, 2008 -- CohesiveFT, the leader in automated software assembly, today announced support for the Ubuntu 8.10 operating system within Elastic Server, the company's web-based factory for real-time virtual server assembly. The Elastic Server platform lets users assemble custom virtual servers using a point-and-click, self-service interface. This release includes support for Amazon large, extra large, and high-CPU AMI formats, addressing the needs of high-end server assemblies requiring additional memory and computing power.

Ubuntu, a popular Linux-based operating system, was initially introduced to the Elastic Server factory on October 30, 2008 with support for the 8.04LTS version. This latest update joins Daisy Linux, a small footprint of Debian Etch, and gives customers another choice of operating system for their custom application stack. CohesiveFT will continue to add operating systems on a regular basis.

“In an increasingly complex IT landscape of multiple operating systems, virtualization formats, and a seemingly never-ending list of open-source and proprietary components, our users are looking for simple ways to put their custom stack in the cloud, test their applications for interoperability, and deploy to a variety of virtual environments," said Ryan Koop, Product Manager for CohesiveFT. “The ability to create one master 'bill of material' simplfies the organization process, reduces errors, and creates reproducible images with speed and quality. Ubuntu extends the capability of our scalable platform, and helps to address the evolving needs of the developer, systems administrator, and IT professional."

The Elastic Server platform is a complement to virtualization and cloud offerings. Users assemble custom servers by choosing components from a library of popular software stacks. Once assembled, these custom application stacks can be configured to a variety of virtualization and cloud-ready formats, downloaded and deployed in real-time. Completed server stacks can be distributed through the Elastic Server platform. There are nearly two thousand community users contributing more than four thousand Elastic Servers to the market.
